On the north side of Mt Mooney which forms a large nunatack near the head of the Robison Glacier; the site is amongst cliffs on a ridge adjacent to a small glacial retreat embayment, approximately 2 km NNW of Mt Mooney at the same site as soil 201 but on a pinkish granite outcrop

Geological setting:
Mt Mooney is predominantly metavolcanic but the north side is granite, predominanly pink and coarse-grained, probably intrusive; the lower slopes of Mt Mooney are partly scree covered but many boulders at the foot of the slope are moderately stained; there are signs of ice ablation having exposed surfaces with previous weathering features
