Geology
Geological setting:
Dolerite boulders, ranging up to 1.5m high, are extensive on the surface which is in part formed from weathered felsenmeer and also from locally derived doleritic till; the surface has been subject to considerable abrasion and weathering; exfoliation of oxidised surfaces, along with abrasion, has resulted in marked rounding of surface boulders; fragmental weathered material has accumulated in some sheltered sites, commonly the lee of large boulders, forming deposits of granular pebbly gravel
Patterned ground:
Nil
Surface weathering or surface features:
Surface boulders are rounded, wind abraded and partly sculptured; some fine grained dolerite clasts are extensively pitted and polished; larger surface boulders are partially disaggregated by frost shattering
pale brown (10YR 6/3) pebbly granular gravel; loose; rock particles subrounded to subangular, but also many thin tabular exfoliate flakes, moderately stained and strongly altered.
