Geology
Geological setting:
Rocks of the area are granite and dolerite and there is a complex glacial history; some small gullies are formed below a few of the alpine glaciers as a result of water flows during thawing and recessional stages; rounded boulders in the gullies indicate that water flows in the past may have been significant; the gullies now accumulate snow which adds to the capacity for thaw stream flow
